Sun is finally here in Florida. Yesterday yeow it was so hot, I felt like Ray Winston at the start of Sexy Beast !

Going to run this afternoon today and see if it feels any easier. Last few days have felt like hard work and maybe its just morning legs.

Been following the action on twitter from the lads back home, looks like everyone is smashing it so need to be good to go when I get back if I want to keep up.

Last year was my first season in Tri and it went pretty well. Swim went from armbands to a 26.25 1500m open tri, my run stayed in pretty good shape and I went from a truly shocking cyclist to a fairly competent club rider. I decided I wanted to have a proper go next season and first step was to upgrade my bike. Realistic choices were between Cervelo P5, Trek Speed Concept, Felt IA & Canyon Speedmax. I was going large!! Back in the routine

Decided this week to stop the swinging training and pressing too much on the routine. Go back to the simple, workable plan and get some fitness. I've been chasing too hard and all I have ended up doing is chasing my tail. This week I went back to basics. 5 run days per week. No doubles, maximise rest, some strength, some plyos and just build some consistency. Monday Gym - lifting all the leg muscle groups. Need to keep going with this, good plan and not too long so no excuses to drop. Been doing my s&c at home lately so nice to hit the gym again. Tuesday Session. 1500m finals tonight so headed to the lake loop with Jacob (not that one!) and did 5 x lap off 60-90 recovery. Jog back home. Plan was threshold but ran it to feel and just looked at lap time. Ended up 10k -> 5k. 2.26, 2.20, 2.21, 2.20, 2.17 (5.39/mm -> 5.14/mm). Recovery about 80 secs avge. Phase 2 - Track Season 2024 - the Reboot

Back to racing - 29 days after my disaster at Peterborough a chance at redemption at Watford. Chose the 1500m as it was the best chance to get something decent done. 3000m is still a bit of an ask. My legs have been constantly battered since returning. I've really pushed my body hard to get fit. Now is the time to stop pushing for fitness and try to get back into race shape and use that fitness to build some racing form. Monday Rest, well needed and nothing whatsoever today. Tuesday  35 min shakeout with 4 x 20 sec strides. Full mobility. Felt good and moving well, good sign. Still a bit of fatigue in there but can feel things starting to come together. Wednesday Race day! am) shakeout nice and relaxed 2km ish village run. Breakfast 3 eggs on toast. Lunch of Jacket potato with cheese and sausage and beans.
