Half steam ahead

This week due to work and coughing my lungs up, I've pretty much been plodding along at half effort.

Hours in the bank has been dog shit but quality is not too shabby.

Sunday night stuck in a decent 8 miles @ 6.13 pace on slippery pavements.

Monday had a busy day at work, shitty meetings then took kids swimming. Ended up going out for usual 5ish route at steady pace. Was ok till had coughing fit at 4 miles. 6.51/mm.

Tuesday was in London with Mrs P and my work partners for a meal and a piss up. Luckily the hotel had an endless pool so did a quick session, 3 x 400m nice and steady. Got shit faced afterwards mixing drinks. Happy days. Nice little session though, always good to bank some wetness indoors #fnarfnar

Wednesday hungover and plodded 4 miles in the snow and was more worried about staying upright than going forwards at any pace. Could not be fucked to do anymore and wanted to sleep and eat shit all night.

Thursday rested. Meetings at work, shit as per usual think it was interviews and usual rubbish I deal with. Went to visit my partner Andy who had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and my sat nav sent me on a 90 min round trip. Ended up getting to his well late and home at dog shit o'clock.

Friday, again, meetings in London. Had a beer, got home and snuck a run in. Usual 5 miles easy enough at 6.48 pace. Happy with that. Out in town with #stIvesElite for a curry. Had to drive but a few giggles and banter mainly about Kye being posh and home wrapped up in bed by 12.30. Living the dream.

Today, took 5 year old to a kids party and snuck off and got a swim session in. 30 mins at st Ives. Properly funny. Think it was over 50s swim. No lanes and for some weird reason they had a lane marker blocking to last 2 metres of one end. So push off the wall, swim 23 metres. Stop. Deep water start and avoid the wrinklies on the way back. Got a rather solid kick in the bollocks from one old dear doing breast stroke but apart from that was a good swim. Nice and long and knocked out a solid half hour pretty much non-stop. Pick the boy up, back home, fuck about and usual 5 mile route as HR test. Worked out 6.46 pace for the session.  Finished up with 2 cokes and a pack of Harribo strawberries. Mint.  15 miles tomorrow morning, first long un for donkeys and will be good to be back on the volume.  Cough feeling better by the hour and preying its finally coming good.

Thinking I'll do frostbite next weekend unless I can find another race but will see what HR tomorrow's run comes out at.
