Good bit of form

Wow, finally seems like things are taking shape. Having been really shit at the start of the year I think I'm well on the way to being just a bit shit now. Happy days!

After my last blog about a decent run on Friday we nailed a good group run on the Friday. 4.25 miles easy with Dan and Stevie B (7.17/mm avge starting with 8's) then met the rest of the boys at the Ivo (or dog shit alley as I now call it). 10 miles starting with a leisurely 7.15 and reeled off sub 6.30's to hit 6.31/mm avge for the next 10 miles. Little warm down in the car park and a coffee in the cafe. Run felt shockingly easy. Like a real runner for the first time in how many years. Boys were like wacky racers in the last mile :) BUT great little session and nice to see Stevie B do a proper training run, almost bought a tear to the eye like he's popped his cherry or something. Degenerate racer Turner couldn't help but 'podium' with a 5.52 last mile #WTF !! Good group out and cheers for Johhny Uff, Mr T, DC, Monkey, Brooksey & Jock Strap for making my last pre-Paris run such a laugh.

Monday, swam at the Ivo. Gap between the kids party pick up so nipped in for an endurance swim. Picked up a pull buoy and got a lecture from the lifeguard as it's wanky swim club property. Used one every time I've swam there - double wtf - and wasn't going to beg the little cnut to use one so fucked it off. 25 min swim and I was too fucked off to go any further. St Ives indoor center is now just for free parking and taking a shit in as far as I am concerned. Pool is shit as well.

Today met up with Mr Day (blast from the past) for a 52 mile ride. Rode to Swaversly and down the GBW into a monster wind. Rode round Cambridge before finally locating him (avge speed about 3mph with 400 traffic light stops) then blasted back down the GBW to St Ives with the wind. Cut back to Fenstanton then down to Bourn up the hill and across to Madingly. Said au revoir and turned back home with wind behind. 27 mph all the way (eat your arse out Kye) - well, could have hit that for about 3 secs :)

So, training on track for Sunday. Prob sneak a couple of easy runs in and a 20 mile ride to make numbers look OK. Race Sunday, easy recovery week and back on it week after. Sounds like a cunning plan.

Bought a lot of bike shit, hoping to buy some speed. Hopefully get that all loaded up (wheels turned up today but no tyres) and see if a bit of warm weather and lighter (more expensive) parts makes me a better cyclist. Either way I have A LOT of work to do before Ironman!
