Arse about face

Interesting week. Niggles and pacing time trials meant that everything was very much arse about face. Have to say, net - net I got away with at least maintaining fitness but it was a stressful way to do things!

So Monday rest day - think maybe the only day that was to plan !  However I had woken up with a stiff back which wasn't ideal.  Loads of rolling and stretching but I had managed to get a pretty severe knot in both my shoulders.

Tuesday was still sore so ran the easy run as best choice (Thursday's session). Felt amazing (as I should on easy after a rest day) and back seemed fine although still wasn't out of the woods.

Wednesday was Tuesday's session on the treddy and it went really well. Back was ok - there BUT manageable however my glutes and hips were a little achey.

Thursday was Wednesday's run (are you with me). 5 steady BUT off the back off 7 steady and treadmill session carried a little more fatigue than I would have liked. Glute was pretty achey. Pace came in at 6:03/mm feeling bleugh for first 3 but easier for last 2 and very much steady HR.

Friday Bear wanted to do his 10k TT so moved Sunday long run at steady pace to this as it pretty much worked out ok. 10k in 39.03 (6:17/mm) and felt like walking at that pace. Little tired but pace was zero issue. Things starting to move in the right direction there. Glute hurt a fair bit afterwards.

Saturday - precautionary rest. Carded a zero and rolled, stretched and rehabbed. Glute was grumbling. Only had a recovery 4 planned anyway so no great shakes missing.

Sunday - planned the 6 x km session but went for an easy long run with Monkey (11.5 @ 7:18/mm) so as not to aggravate anything. Glute was absolutely fine - if anything the other one ached more afterwards!

Another consistent week banked but have to say it was more stressful moving everything about. My body is craving consistency. Next week will be on track and in the correct order !!

Scores on the doors 38.1 miles at ~6.45/mm. Would have been sub 6.30 if I had done the km reps.

Glutes are a focus, stay on top of rehab and start to build some strength now I am actually using them for running!!

Starting to think about cutting back at some stage. To be honest every day the legs feel OK to go hard, no real issues there BUT it's the niggles holding things back.  Want to feel relaxed at sub 6s and things are progressing in the right direction.

Looking like 4 weeks until we can start racing again so no real need to push too hard yet. May do a TT myself at some stage. Not sure what distance, maybe a 5 mile or 10 mile pb effort but I'll have a think about that one.
