Hip watch

Ahh the reason for the blog - for future Daz to look back on previous injuries and self diagnose the how, what and why from past Daz !!

OK so the rehab is happening. Post yesterdays run started to feel very 'DOMS-y' - this is only a good thing (I think).

Did the same strength set in the evening, hip impingement & calf raises. Sprint squats and single leg balance.  This is definitely working the correct areas.

The plan is to build up strength in the muscles around the hip to take the load of whatever weakness is causing the problems.

Pain wise, it's pretty low - more of an ache but now it seems specific to the right glute - can locate the issue all the way from hip to hip joint.

Pressure point massage with tennis ball works a little in reducing pain but most affective stretch is laying on back and pulling knee across. That bad boy really gets it.

Planning to run again today on the treadmill - a reduction of usual session so will aim to run a mile warm up, 3 miles steady, mile cool down with the aim being 3 miles steady @ 16 kmph. If it pulls at that speed like yesterday I will reduce it again. 15.5 seemed ok so that's close enough if it doesn't cause probs.

Not sure how the DOMS will affect the running but taken ibroprofen to take away some of that.

Still feeling a little under the weather - timing on that is pretty ideal. It's not hindering but def am a little throaty.

Testing out using tens before running, see if that warms it up any.

On to the run - plan was 1 mile easy, 3 miles steady, 1 mile easy.

Started pretty relaxed by quad was tight. Jump off to stretch that a bit. Back on and warm up at 14 kmph feels a bit bleugh. On to pace @ 16 kmph. Feel better and as it goes on better all the time. Great thing with treadmill is you can make tiny adjustments to see what effect it has. Finish up slightly longer (26 mins) and warm down at 14 kmph feeling easy.

Feel great afterwards. Very little in the way of DOMS it all seems relaxed. No pains as such. I will monitor during the day but fingers crossed it seems like mission accomplished TODAY !!

Later in the afternoon some DOMS creeping in. Pretty sure it's just the strength work but certainly does not seem to be adversely affected so far.
