Hungover HR test

On he beers last night.  An impressively late and heavy night around friends house for a curry. Food was good and the drunken banter till 2.30am was better.  Up at 7.30am feeling great and no real hangover.
Took the boys to see the Harry Potter Studio in Watford and on the drive back felt more and more tired.  Flaked out on the sofa for an hour (still feeling something in system) then out for my usual 5 mile HR test.

First mile is easy to get into it.  Comes up in 7.23 for 134bpm which is really good.  Feels a little quick but HR is very low and put this down to feeling jaded.

Into the 150 bpm mile and pace is quick.  Feel strong and happy to be running at a decent clip for the first time since London.  Mile comes up in 6.12 for 151bpm and I am pleasently surprised.  Heart Rate a little high at the end of the mile and have to concentrate to keep it down.

Next mile coming back into the wind and know it's settling a little higher than the planned 155 bpm but feeling good and nice to see a quickening.  Mile comes up in 6.09/mm for 157 bpm.

Last effort mile should be about marathon pace but today it's a lot quicker.  Actually comes out at closer to current 10k pace!  Wind up with 5.48 for 162bpm.  Really happy with that as it felt strong and comfortable today.

Jogged home (stopped for a chat with a pal half way back) at about 6.52/mm for the 1.18 miles feeling very easy.

Overal 5.18 miles, 33:42 (6:30/mm) @ 149 bpm.

Beats per mile on Fetch was 969 - the lowest (most efficient) I have ever recorded on there.  Feel like things are coming together a bit now I have more of a routine.  I am planning on doing what I have this week for the next 4 weeks through Florida and hoping to purely see pace get quicker.

Also feel that the cross training I have been doing (stretching, core, resistance band & TT high cadence) are paying dividends so need to keep that promise up.

Finally, maybe I did have something in my system that has now cleared but it did feel like things were clicking today - happy days!

Will do 6 tomorrow at a steady clip around the trails.

My plan for the next month or so looks like this -

Mon - 6 recovery (7.30/mm)
Tue - 4 brisk (6.45/mm)
Wed - 6.5 steady (6.50/mm)
Thu - Cross train
Fri - 10 steady (7/mm)
Sat - 5 HR test (6.30/mm)
Sun - 6 steady (6.35/mm)

Aim to keep things around 40-45 miles per week.
