Round Up

After running with DC on Wednesday evening, I had an easy run with Ian D on Thursday morning.  Really struggled over the trails and calf was not the happiest.  Managed just over 7 miles at 7.31 pace so not a terrible run but bad enough for me to feel guilty at dragging Ian all the way across from Ely!

Friday woke up feeling really tired so decided to do an easy hour on the bike.  Aim to just spin the legs and not tackle too many climbs and just keep the legs spinning.  Nice route Through Elsworth, back towards A14, Knapworth then Bourn and towards Gransdens before turning back through Caxton and home.  17 miles @ 16.89 mph feeling pretty easy - expecting that to be my go-to pace for now.

Saturday was rest day.  Had last weekend off with the party and recovery from that so not been a big patch of work but upped my running volume.  Took the boys to the Judo at Excel for the Olympics.  I did Judo as a kid and was amazing watching a live Olympic event.  Really enjoyed it but it's a long traipse across London from ours and we were all knackered when we got home.

Up early today for some base running with Stevie B.  St Ives Indoor centre, around trails at Needlingworth, Fenstanton, St Ives then 3k loop back to leisure center.  10.6 miles @ 8/mm.  Happy with that, calf little tight on the roads but not painful so happy enough.  Nice route but not the fastest.  Shame my Garmin was flat this morning as the aim for these base runs is to keep the HR the same (nice and low) but see 90 mins turn into 12, 13 and 14 miles.

So this week the scores on the doors are -

Swimming - 0 miles (poor, need to do at least one swim)
Running - 31 miles (good start considering I'm easing back)
Biking - 2:12 hours (although I'm probably going to TT tonight)

Bit of a low week but happy that the running is coming up.  A sub 7/mm run and an 8/mm slow run with everything else in the middle.

Calf is wrapped at the minute.  Happy it's recovering but still not million percent and I'm not going to be doing intervals or tempo just yet.  Happy to keep doing base work at the minute but we're moving into August and I want to lift the pace and start doing quick stuff soon.

Bike wise want to get a long ride in this week.  3 hours or so just to get the volume up.  Good news for me that Ed is joining me for the 90 mile ride in September but I need to build the gap between 22 miles and 90 lol.

Will swim this week, got to fit it in somewhere.  School holidays are a nightmare and can't be doing with loads of traffic in the lanes.
