A (Rest) Day in the Life
Rest day yesterday, well earned after getting some decent miles and solid runs in the past few days.
So, early up with Sawyer jumping in bed with us. Wake up, shower, make kids breakfast & make sure boys get themseles dressed, brushed teeth & hair then take Jacob to school and on to work. In total takes about 1.15 to get into work and do the school run via Bourn.
Get into work and straight into Advertising meeting. Our new designer is arranging some marketing for us including TV adverts, radio & other media stuff. Big discussion on how to expand the brand and how much we should spend. Nearly 2 hours for that. Not many decisions but some good starting points for Michal to get on with.
Bacon baguette been sitting on my desk for about an hour and a half when I get out so scoff that and half way through it straight into cancellations meeting. Our account management team are working on stopping dealers cancelling our subscription service. Discuss current plans and how to get our message accross to dealers. Good meeting and things are proceeding well enough there. Some positive points to move on and next month we have a new format for these meetings.
Off to the shop for lunch (a lucozade sport - brunch was plenty!). Meet with my partners to discuss our outgoing sales director and some issues there. All agreed. Then IT board meeting, discuss stats to site, fallout from new site design. All good, still punching above our weight and loads going on.
Our IT director is leaving Monday to persue his own projects. Wishing him all the best and will be a bog loss for me as we have such a great working relationship. Door will always remain open as he is the best SEO marketeer in our industry by a long long way. After the meeting I hae a chat with him to finalise handover for the last few things.
Into my office at 2pm having not stopped. Issue with one of the stats iews on my production tool so get one of my developers to sort. Immediately notice a problem with telephone stats from the provider so get Tom on the case and broadcast to the company. Get 3/4 people come in to chat about stats not right for some dealers and ask each for specific evidence. Get some evidence and prove all wrong.
Check everyone is cool, knows whats happening and set to deliver and leave the office.
1 hour to drive home, make dinner for me and Jacob and do boys homework and some reading. At 6 bells take him to his first Judo lesson at Comberton. Was brilliant watching him as I did it as a kid. Tenatious little kid he was very nervy at first but got stuck right in once he got going even though he was 2 years younger than the anyone else in the class and so much smaller bless him.
Kebab stop on the way home, get back and put Jacob to bed by 8.15pm. Pull up a beer with my kebab, watch some telly, chat to the missus, bit of internet and bed!
Phew, back to running tomorrow so should be easier !!
